CRUE FEST REVIEW

The Crue Fest concert at the Wheatland (Sleep Train) Ampliftheatre was a rockin good time as usual. The show opened with Trapt which turned into their own CD release party (out the same day), and their fans helped establish the enthusiatic mood for the evening. Next Sixx:am came out for a short set. Everyone was obviously excited to see Nikki, but his and Crue fans in general were only then trickling in, so the subdued response was typical of an early crowd (plus they didn't know the words to the new songs).
Next came Papa Roach and their energy got the crowd up on their feet and rockin. They were followed by Buckcherry who really rocked the tats hard but didn't seem to hit their stride until near the end of their set (they even seemed dissapointed they didn't have more time).
Finally it was time for the Crue's Sin & sex. The requisite fire, explosions and titty cam, awesome lighting and excellent video coverage were all there, though understandably abbreviated for a Tuesday night show in an 18,000 seat venue. The Mick solo was an an awesome tribute to Mr. Jimmi. What I enjoyed the most was seeing 40-50 something parents rockin' out with their children, and the kids knowing the words to the newer songs better than their folks. Only negative: even for a week night in a relatively small place their show was very short (1hr.-15min.), but maybe that's just a Crue fan writing this.
